Light of the World
Ballet company and trainees had the wonderful opportunity to perform
"Follow the North Star" at Nottingham High School on Wednesday, March
18th. This was the first time LWB has ever received permission to perform in a
public high school, so it was a very exciting experience! We performed the
ballet twice that day, once for ninth and tenth graders and once for eleventh
and twelfth graders, and we were also able to help teach some of the students
one of the pieces from the ballet, called "Wade in the Water." The
students seemed to enjoy learning the piece, and it was a lot of fun getting to
interact with them and hearing about their lives and interests. It was an
immense blessing watching God work through all the doors that were opened for
us through this experience. On a funnier note, a mishap occurred during one of
the pieces the first time we performed that day. Several whips are used as
props in the piece, and two of the girls (who had previously joked about
"what if" scenarios beforehand) got their whips tangled together
during the dance, which led to one of them almost getting tangled and stuck in
her whip herself. It is always hard as a dancer to not start laughing on stage
when unexpected things happen, but they managed to keep in character for a few
more minutes...until they exited the stage. :) ~Hannah Wallace
