Mexico First Session Demonstration

Last Tuesday, Light of the World Ballet Company performed for our satellite school in Mexico. It was the end of the first of the three sessions, so each class performed a dance to show what they had been learning, and they did really well! Krystalan, a third year trainee who does the administration work for the Mexico school and teaches the Pre-Ballet class shared her testimony with the students and their parents. The Company performed Song of the Ages, a dance to a powerful song about God’s holiness, completely sung in Hebrew. It was exciting to see how God is moving as Light of the World grows and to see the impact that the school has on the families involved. I am looking forward to seeing how God continues to grow what He is doing in the area! ~Cayla

United Church of Fayetteville

On Sunday we had the opportunity to perform again at the United Church of Fayetteville. It has become a tradition for the Company to perform at this church every summer, and I enjoy the challenge of putting on the best quality performance possible in the very small space! We performed "By Our Love" for the second time, and I think it went well even through the changes and adjustments that we made for the space. I always so enjoy the people at UCF! They are so thankful and appreciative of dance being used for worship. I pray that they were encouraged through the dances and that they experienced the presence of God in a new way! I am so thankful that our God is a personal, intimate God who so desires to draw near and lavish His presence on each of us! Blessings! ~Breanne

Mexico, NY Workshop Performance

Thursday August 30, 2012 We had a performance to culminate the 4 day workshop that we held in Mexico, NY. We were warmly welcomed by the Believer’s Chapel North staff and community all week long and it was a special treat to have a performance to end the workshop. The younger pre-ballet level did 2 short pieces. They did very well for having such a short time to learn the dances and looked adorable on stage! The 2 older levels also did a dance and did it very well. They were focused and picked up the dance very quickly! We taught them a finale piece that involved everyone and incorporated flags and streamers. It was such a blessing to see them perform and worship the Lord through their dancing! Four girls also shared their testimonies; it was a blessing to see them step out and be used by God in that way. The company performed one of our new dances, “By Our Love” as well as “Life of Praise”. It was an awesome evening of worship! To God be all the glory!! Alyssa

mujeres de virtud

On May 18-20 we had the opportunity to go down to Stevens, PA to minister at an womens' event that was put on by a group called Mujeres de Virtud ("Women of Virtue"). It took place on a beautiful campground near the Lancaster area. While some of the women had their sessions upstairs, we got to minister to some of the teens and young girls at the event. We got to share different testimonies with them, pray with them, and also teach them a dance to a song called Solo Cristo ("None But Jesus"). I really enjoyed getting to know the girls and share a little bit of what the Lord has done in my life as well as get to hear where they are at with the Lord. On Saturday night, we got to perform La Corona (Spanish for The Crown) with the Spanish narration for all the women there. They were a great audience! It was so fun to get to perform The Crown in Spanish again, since we haven't done that version since our missions trip to Peru. :) It always tests our listening skills (since none of us speak Spanish!) to hear verbal cues, but it was great. At the very end, the girls got to perform their dance we'd taught them AND got to lead the women in simple arm movements! There was also a Praise dance group at this conference as well, and they danced at the very end to close out the night. It was really neat because the next morning, in our final session with the girls, we shared the Gospel with them, and several raised their hands to pray and know for sure that Jesus was their personal Lord and Savior! It was awesome. There were several others who were not quite there yet, but close, and we got to talk to them and pray for them as well! I know the Lord revealed Himself to them that day, and I know that He will continue drawing them to Himself as well! It was a great weekend full of the Lord's love and faithfulness, and I feel so blessed that we got to be a part of it! Gwen

Van Duyn

On Wednesday, May 23 the Trainees and levels 4, 5, and 6 from the Light of the World Ballet School performed at the Van Duyn adult home. This performance was unique because the company members actually got to take a seat and watch us. Also, every piece danced was choreographed by the students. I was very impressed with such creativity and teamwork coming from the young ballet students. The small audience was very open to my testimony, Miss Ashley’s presentation of the gospel, and the message displayed through all the dances. There were some with tears in their eyes and even more who repeated the prayer of salvation. I think that the Lord was pleased with the effort put forth to bless these dear folks who sometimes feel forgotten. Karissa

Manlius Methodist Church

On May 12th, Light of the World performed “The Crown” for a mother-daughter dinner at the Manlius Methodist church. We were sad to realize that this was our last performance of “The Crown” with the full cast for this year. Miss Ashley was surprised when she first stepped forward to introduce everyone, and saw her chiropractor sitting right in front. One of the ministers in attendance was kind enough come forward when we finished and graciously spoke a blessing over Light of the World. We also taught some of the young girls there some ballet steps- they were all so adorable in their beautiful dresses! It was a blessing to get to know the people at that church a bit, and hear about their heart for the local community. I hope there are more open doors to see them again! God bless! ~Cayla

Faith Heritage

On Wednesday May 2nd, we performed Living Hope at Faith Heritage Christian School. It was the first time we performed Living Hope since January. We knew before hand that this might be a tricky performance. First, it was going to be pretty tight in terms of spacing and we also had a smaller time window in which to perform. However, we have dealt with these challenges before and the Lord always provides grace. We were able to get everything set up with six minutes to get into costume. The performance itself was fairly good considering the circumstances. The bell rang before the program was over, but we were informed that would probably happen. When we finished, I was able to briefly share my testimony. The kids were a very pleasant and attentive audience! I pray that they were encouraged. Light of the World has danced at Faith Heritage on several other occasions and each time we are blessed by the staff there. They are such wonderful people! I hope we will continue to have an open door at Faith Heritage and be able to see how God is working in the lives of the students and faculty. Abi-
