Nottingham High School

Light of the World Ballet company and trainees had the wonderful opportunity to perform "Follow the North Star" at Nottingham High School on Wednesday, March 18th. This was the first time LWB has ever received permission to perform in a public high school, so it was a very exciting experience! We performed the ballet twice that day, once for ninth and tenth graders and once for eleventh and twelfth graders, and we were also able to help teach some of the students one of the pieces from the ballet, called "Wade in the Water." The students seemed to enjoy learning the piece, and it was a lot of fun getting to interact with them and hearing about their lives and interests. It was an immense blessing watching God work through all the doors that were opened for us through this experience. On a funnier note, a mishap occurred during one of the pieces the first time we performed that day. Several whips are used as props in the piece, and two of the girls (who had previously joked about "what if" scenarios beforehand) got their whips tangled together during the dance, which led to one of them almost getting tangled and stuck in her whip herself. It is always hard as a dancer to not start laughing on stage when unexpected things happen, but they managed to keep in character for a few more minutes...until they exited the stage. :)  ~Hannah Wallace

Hutchings Psychiatric Center

LWB had the privilege of performing at Hutchings Psychiatric Center. The company and trainees performed Follow The North Star. One of the staff informed us that the adolescents in the audience couldn't stop talking about the performance. Praise God! At the end of the performance we did the song Healing is in Your Hands and the adolescents and adults did the arm motions with us. It was such a blessing to be able to watch this take place. Thank you for all of the prayers. I truly believe there was some inner healing taking place in their hearts.  -Crisanna

Onondaga County Jail

Lwb company and trainees just wrapped up a performance a week ago for the Onondaga County Jail Friday, March the 13th. We performed the ballet Follow the North Star for the women inmates there. The parallels of slavery in the story seemed to truly resonate with the women who were quite possibly enslaved by some life circumstances. By the end of the ballet, many were visibly affected and were very open to talking and sharing stories with us. It was such a special time to reach out to the women there and to truly be a light in the darkness. ~Hannah Robinson

St. Luke's Rehabilitation Center

On February 13th LWB company and trainees performed at St. Luke's Rehabilitation Center in Oswego, New York. The performance went really well. There was a large turnout of the St. Luke's residents and faculty so much so that the meeting hall we performed in was completely packed. LWB performed our short travel version of Follow the North Star and invited our audience members to join in Healing is in His Hands (our song with simple hand motions). Many of the audience members joined in and it was very special doing this song all together for the first time after our winter break. I was privileged to share my personal testimony and we were all privileged to be able to meet many of the residents after the show. Meeting elderly residents at centers like this one is always special as we get to hear their stories and inquire about their relationships with Jesus Christ. St. Luke's was our second performance of the year. Performing there was a blessing! ~Abby(Trainee)

Valentine’s Sitter

Valentine’s Sitter was a blast! On February 14th, we did a Valentine’s Sitter fundraiser for missions. After parents had dropped off their kids, we started the night with some Valentine games, and a fun heart-shaped craft, followed by dinner. After everyone enjoyed their pizza, the company and trainees performed a few different dances and the kids got to join in the dancing as well! Lydia shared her testimony and Miss Ashley gave a character lesson. We finished the night with heart-shaped sugar cookies and some coloring pages. We had a great group of kids, so fun and attentive! It was a great opportunity to share with the kids, "We love because He first loved us,"(1 John 4:19)! ~Anna
